Better to know now than after you've moved your records across. If one of these is a deal-breaker, Countertop Office isn't the right fit yet.
- No card payments Customers pay to the bank details on your invoice. Countertop Office records the payment, but it doesn't take cards.
- No app-store app It runs in your phone's browser, so there's nothing to install, but it needs a signal to work.
- Email, not SMS Quotes, invoices and reminders go out by email. There's no text messaging.
- No payroll Wages and PAYG withheld go on the BAS by hand as W1 and W2. The rest of the BAS is calculated from your records.

Can I invoice from site?
Yes. From the job screen you can turn the visit's time and materials into an invoice and email it to the customer. They pay to the bank details on the invoice, because card payments aren't built in.
Can I keep stock on each van?
Yes. Each van can be its own stock location. Transfer fittings from the workshop, record what's used on each job, and get alerts when a product drops below its reorder level.
Do plumbing businesses need to lodge a TPAR?
If your business is mainly in building and construction and you pay contractors for that work, you generally need to lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report by 28 August each year. Plumbing is generally treated as a building and construction service. Countertop Office prepares the report from the payments you make to suppliers marked as contractors, and you lodge it in ATO Online services. Check with your accountant if you're not sure it applies to you.
Is it priced per plumber?
No. Business is $49 a month for up to 20 users, so adding an apprentice or an office helper doesn't change the bill. Solo is $19 a month for one person. Both plans include every feature, and no GST is added.
Can I bring my records across from my current software?
Yes. Export your clients, suppliers, products and services as CSV or Excel files and upload them. Countertop Office suggests which of your columns match its own, and you confirm before anything is imported.
