Software for painting businesses.
Quote the repaint, book the crew, record hours and paint as the job runs, then invoice from what was actually done. Countertop Office keeps a painting business's quotes, jobs, stock and books in one place, and prepares BAS and TPAR from the same records.

From site measure to paid invoice, without retyping the job.
Each step starts from the record before it, so the client, the scope and the prices are never typed in twice.
- 01
Measure and quote
Book a site measure, then build the quote from your own rates for prep, coats and materials. The client accepts it online from a link.
- 02
Book the crew
Turn the accepted quote into a job, split it into phases such as prep, interiors and exteriors, and book each painter's visits on the schedule board.
- 03
Run the job
Painters log hours and paint used against each visit, work through the checklist, and get the client to sign off on the phone.
- 04
Invoice and chase
Take a deposit and progress claims, then invoice the balance from the job's time and materials. Overdue reminders follow up for you.
The parts painters use every week.
Every feature is on both plans. These are the ones that matter most for painters.
- Variations Extra rooms, colour changes and extra coats go on the job as variations. Once approved, they're billed with the rest of the job.
- Deposits and progress claims A billing plan takes the deposit up front and claims the rest in stages as the job moves.
- Job profitability Compare quoted and actual labour and materials on every job, and see which kinds of work make money.
- Paint and sundries stock Track tins and sundries by location, move stock between the shed and the van, and get low-stock alerts.
- Quote templates Save your standard interior repaint or exterior quote, then adjust it for each house.
- Subcontractor payments Mark the subcontractors you pay, and their payments roll into your Taxable Payments Annual Report.
What it doesn't do.
Better to know now than after you've moved your records across. If one of these is a deal-breaker, Countertop Office isn't the right fit yet.
- No card payments Customers pay to the bank details on your invoice. Countertop Office records the payment, but it doesn't take cards.
- No app-store app It runs in your phone's browser, so there's nothing to install, but it needs a signal to work.
- No payroll Wages and PAYG withheld go on the BAS by hand as W1 and W2. The rest of the BAS is calculated from your records.
- No live bank feeds You import your bank's statement file, then match lines, apply bank rules and reconcile.
Common questions from painters.
Straight answers on site work, tax and what it costs.
Can my painters use it on site?
Yes. Countertop Office runs in a phone's browser with nothing to install. Field staff see their visits, log time and materials, tick off checklists and collect the customer's signature. The built-in Field Worker role keeps the accounts and financial reports out of their view.
How do I handle colour changes and extra work?
Add a variation to the job with its own lines and price. When it's approved, its lines are added to the job, so the extra work is invoiced with everything else instead of being forgotten.
Do painting businesses need to lodge a TPAR?
If your business is mainly in building and construction and you pay contractors for that work, you generally need to lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report by 28 August each year. Painting is generally treated as a building and construction service. Countertop Office prepares the report from the payments you make to suppliers marked as contractors, and you lodge it in ATO Online services. Check with your accountant if you're not sure it applies to you.
Is it priced per painter?
No. Business is $49 a month for up to 20 users, so adding an apprentice or an office helper doesn't change the bill. Solo is $19 a month for one person. Both plans include every feature, and no GST is added.
Can I bring my records across from my current software?
Yes. Export your clients, suppliers, products and services as CSV or Excel files and upload them. Countertop Office suggests which of your columns match its own, and you confirm before anything is imported.
