Countertop Office for electricians

Software for electrical contractors.

Quote the install, schedule the team, track hours and parts on each job, and invoice from what was used. Countertop Office runs an electrical business's quotes, jobs, stock and books in one place, with BAS and TPAR prepared from the same records.

How the work moves

From call-out to invoice, with the parts accounted for.

Each step starts from the record before it, so the client, the scope and the prices are never typed in twice.

  1. 01

    Quote or call out

Quote installs from saved templates, or book a call-out straight onto the schedule for smaller work.

  2. 02

    Schedule

Assign electricians to visits on the schedule board. Double-booking warnings catch clashes before anyone drives out.

  3. 03

    On site

Log hours and the cable, fittings and parts used against the visit, run the checklist, and get the customer's signature.

  4. 04

    Bill

Invoice from the visit's time and materials, raise progress claims on bigger jobs, and let reminders chase late payers.

For electricians

What an electrical business leans on.

Every feature is on both plans. These are the ones that matter most for electricians.

  • Parts on every van Hold stock in several locations, including each van, and move parts between them with transfers.
  • Reorder before you run out Low-stock alerts and replenishment suggestions turn reorder levels into purchase orders.
  • Purchase approvals Orders go through submit, approve and receive, with approval tiers so bigger orders need the right sign-off.
  • Checklists and sign-off Each visit carries its own checklist and an on-site customer signature, kept with the job.
  • Job profitability and WIP See quoted against actual on finished jobs, and what's in progress but not yet billed.
  • Wholesaler bills Record supplier invoices against the order, then pay them with supplier payments and credits.

Worth knowing

What it doesn't do.

Better to know now than after you've moved your records across. If one of these is a deal-breaker, Countertop Office isn't the right fit yet.

  • No compliance certificates Countertop Office doesn't produce certificates or test records. Attach your completed form to the job instead.
  • No card payments Customers pay to the bank details on your invoice. Countertop Office records the payment, but it doesn't take cards.
  • No app-store app It runs in your phone's browser, so there's nothing to install, but it needs a signal to work.
  • No payroll Wages and PAYG withheld go on the BAS by hand as W1 and W2. The rest of the BAS is calculated from your records.

Questions

Common questions from electricians.

Straight answers on site work, tax and what it costs.

Can I track the parts on each van?

Yes. Set up each van as a stock location alongside the workshop, move parts between them with transfers, and record what's used on each job. Low-stock alerts work per product.

Does it produce electrical safety certificates?

No. Countertop Office doesn't generate certificates of compliance or test records. Attach the completed certificate to the job so it stays with the work and the invoice.

Do electrical contractors need to lodge a TPAR?

If your business is mainly in building and construction and you pay contractors for that work, you generally need to lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report by 28 August each year. Electrical work is listed by the ATO as a building and construction service. Countertop Office prepares the report from the payments you make to suppliers marked as contractors, and you lodge it in ATO Online services. Check with your accountant if you're not sure it applies to you.

Can my electricians and apprentices use it on site?

Yes. Countertop Office runs in a phone's browser with nothing to install. Field staff see their visits, log time and materials, tick off checklists and collect the customer's signature. The built-in Field Worker role keeps the accounts and financial reports out of their view.

Is it priced per electrician?

No. Business is $49 a month for up to 20 users, so adding an apprentice or an office helper doesn't change the bill. Solo is $19 a month for one person. Both plans include every feature, and no GST is added.
