Countertop Office for cabinet makers

Software for cabinet makers and joiners.

Quote the kitchen, take the deposit, order the board and hardware, build in the workshop, then schedule the install. Countertop Office ties a joinery business's quotes, stock, builds, installs and books together, so the real cost of each job isn't a guess.

How the work moves

Workshop and install in the same job.

Each step starts from the record before it, so the client, the scope and the prices are never typed in twice.

  1. 01

    Measure and quote

Book the site measure, quote from your templates, and send it for online approval.

  2. 02

    Deposit and order

Raise the deposit from a billing plan, then order board, edging and hardware on purchase orders.

  3. 03

    Build

Record builds from assemblies, so board and hardware come out of stock as cabinets are made.

  4. 04

    Install and invoice

Schedule the install crew, get sign-off on site, and invoice the balance.

For cabinet makers

Stock, builds and installs in one place.

Every feature is on both plans. These are the ones that matter most for cabinet makers.

  • Assemblies and builds Define a cabinet or unit from its components, and stock adjusts when you record a build.
  • Board and hardware stock Track stock across the workshop and storage, with reorder levels and low-stock alerts.
  • Purchase orders Order with approval tiers, receive deliveries into stock, and match the supplier's invoice.
  • Inventory valuation See the value of stock on hand at any time, along with stock movements and adjustments.
  • Deposits and progress claims A billing plan takes the deposit when the order is confirmed and claims the rest in stages.
  • Job profitability Compare quoted and actual materials and labour across workshop and install.

Worth knowing

What it doesn't do.

Better to know now than after you've moved your records across. If one of these is a deal-breaker, Countertop Office isn't the right fit yet.

  • No design or cutting lists Countertop Office doesn't replace your cabinet design or cutting-list software. Attach drawings to the job instead.
  • No card payments Customers pay to the bank details on your invoice. Countertop Office records the payment, but it doesn't take cards.
  • No payroll Wages and PAYG withheld go on the BAS by hand as W1 and W2. The rest of the BAS is calculated from your records.
  • No live bank feeds You import your bank's statement file, then match lines, apply bank rules and reconcile.

Questions

Common questions from cabinet makers.

Straight answers on site work, tax and what it costs.

Does it replace my cabinet design software?

No. Keep designing and producing cutting lists in your current software. Countertop Office handles the quote, the deposit, purchasing, stock, the build record, the install and the books, and you can attach drawings to the job.

How does stock work for things we build?

Set up each cabinet or unit as an assembly made from its components. When you record a build, the components come out of stock and the finished item goes in, so stock on hand and its value stay right.

Do cabinet makers need to lodge a TPAR?

If your business is mainly in building and construction and you pay contractors for that work, you generally need to lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report by 28 August each year. Whether joinery counts depends on how much of your work is building and construction, such as installing on site. Countertop Office prepares the report from the payments you make to suppliers marked as contractors, and you lodge it in ATO Online services. Check with your accountant if you're not sure it applies to you.

Is it priced per user?

No. Business is $49 a month for up to 20 users, so adding an apprentice or an office helper doesn't change the bill. Solo is $19 a month for one person. Both plans include every feature, and no GST is added.

Can I bring my records across from my current software?

Yes. Export your clients, suppliers, products and services as CSV or Excel files and upload them. Countertop Office suggests which of your columns match its own, and you confirm before anything is imported.
